As two tropical cyclones off the our coast triggered extremely heavy rainfall Monday night through yesterday morning, many parts of Jakarta and its surrounding area experienced massive flooding in multiple areas, even those that aren't prone to flooding. In high-alert status areas, such as Cipinang Melayu and Bidara Cina in East Jakarta, floodwaters reached a depth of more than 150 centimeters, the Jakarta Post reports. Although BMKG is predicting more heavy rainfall and extreme weather all through the week, we are hoping that the flood will be kept at bay.
