The months of June and July are the best time to be in Bali. The crisp cool weather, ocean-scented breeze, blue skies, and captivating sunsets will be your backdrop throughout your stay.
It is also the perfect time to get to know more about the historic richness of Balinese culture, as the annual Bali Arts Festival (Pesta Kesenian Bali) returns this month.
The Bali Arts Festival is a cultural treat for lucky visitors who are in Bali until mid-July. The annual celebration showcases the artwork and cultural achievements of Bali's different regions, as well as Bali's wealth of performing arts. Aside from a parade, various competitions are held during this event, such as the literature competition, handicrafts, painting and other parades such as culinary, fashion, ngelawang, ramatari, gong kebyar, and traditional dance performances.
Open to the public and based at Taman Werdhi Budaya Arts Centre in Denpasar, the daily exhibitions and art performances run from June 15th to July 13th.
To be a full on artsy traveller, explore and discover other places where you can watch cultural performances on the island. The Devdan Show in Nusa Dua is one. The story of two youngsters who find a treasure chest containing different unique items, the audience is taken on a journey witnessing Indonesia's national treasures.
Another one is the Bali Agung, a magical theatrical performance highlighting the rich culture and traditions of Bali. It recounts the tragic and heroic legend of King Sri Jaya Pangus and his beloved Chinese wife, Kang Ching Wie.
You can also explore Bali's Museums with your family and friends, and get to know more about the history of the Island of the Gods. Or simply indulges in Indonesian cuisine. Your only challenge will be deciding what to do from a long list of unique festivals and activities over the next couple of months.
