Indonesia is currently transitioning to a period of the New Normal. Especially in Jakarta. this week commuters started to pack train stations and traffic starts to clog up in some areas. Unfortunately, just after a day after the government started easing large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) in several provinces, Indonesia has recorded its highest COVID-19 increase in a single day with 1,043 new confirmed cases, the Jakarta Post reports. The Bali provincial administration has also reported 25 new numbers of COVID-19 transmissions, with 24 of them are local transmission. These new cased are focused particularly in the four regencies of Badung, Denpasar, Klungkung and Tabanan, according to kompas.com. We understand that social and economic activities needs to reopen and the show needs to go on. But as has been done in other countries, extra measures needs to be considered before we go into a #newnormal ways of lives. It's better to be extra careful, (or even paranoid!), than to be extra sorry. During this transitional period Jakarta is applying some specific health protocols for different sectors, including places of worships, workplaces, public and private transportation, shopping centers, schools, sports centers, and F&B industry. The government has said that thousands of officers will be deployed to make sure the protocols are enforced, but we believe that it takes everybody in the crowd to keep each other safe. Keep your mask on and always, always practice physical distancing! Stay healthy, friends. Cheers, Jessica Januarty Chief Operating Officers www.WhatsNewIndonesia.com |
